Once upon a time, Distortion 2 Static had a radio show hosted by myself and Beats Me. We would do tributes, themes and such, and one episode we did a tribute to Tribe Called Quest. I did an ALL TRIBE mix for about 90 min straight, and me and Beats me had mic breaks discussing one of the best Hip Hop groups of all time. We discontinued the radio show, but I still had the mix, so I figured I would release it to the many who haven't heard it; fix the levels, add artwork, and give it a title, and voila! New Mixtape! So this is a joint I did about 2 years ago, and it's a straight shot...no multi-tracking or edits, so please excuse the mistakes. With that said, it gets the stamp of approval. This one goes out to all the Tribe enthusiasts across the globe.
It's been 8 years, but her music still lives on. I play 'Rock the Boat' at almost every one of my club DJ sets, and it always gets a good reaction. She was so unique from the beats she sang over, to her videos and her outfits. She seems so down to earth like she was someone in the neighborhood, but her beauty could never be mistaken. He is and always will be greatly missed.
It's hard to think about what her sound and success would be like if her and Timbaland were still making hits. I smile and think back at the great music and memories she has left us with...
Big shout to the homie Jern Eye, who's Highly anticipated album is right around the corner and I can say with confidence that it's gonna be his best work. Jern and I have the LA to the Bay connect, and we've had countless convos dissecting the art form we know and love..in other words, he's fam. Please download the album, and request to myx label that Jern Eye make a visit to a city near you.
Some of you may have noticed, but I've been trying to step my photoshop game up. To build up my portfolio, I've revised some of my older mix CD artwork. I would like to share a few I have worked on in the last few weeks. Feedback is appreciated!
