Till this day, it's hard that this group came from the Bay because of the oversaturation of Hyphy, but they did. and they shouted it out thoughout the entire album. When hearing the music that has come out of the Bay during the last 5 yrs, this album seems like a different MILLINEUM! (well actually...) This was definitely a good time in Hip Hop in my opinion...The Wake Up Show, Chat Rooms, every song had a Sample, Urban Video Shoots w/ everyone dressing in layers...anyway. Please listen to the B.U.M.S. album and reminisce, or learn about some classic Hip Hop that Oakland has produced. Either way, its all good. (I've lived in the Bay for 10 years, and I STILL haven't heard anything about the B.U.M.S. whereabouts...help, anyone? btw, I AM familiar with Joe Quixx's whereabouts. He was the Producer for the group, and also the DJ for The Wake Up Show. BIG UP to Mr. Quixx, and my boy Soul Profess informed me that SF's own DJ Pos Red used to DJ for them. IT'S THE EMCEES i don't know about...)
ALSO, I would like to note that D-Wyze's and E-Vocalist's verses on 'Elevation' are two of the best verses in one song that Hip Hop has Produced.

THe B.U.M.S actually came out in the mid 90's, more like 13 years ago than 5. Don't know much about them except that my man Joe Quixx produced them as well as served as the OG DJ on the Wake Up Show. You can still catch him DJing in Oakland about 5 days a week. Check his myspace.
no doubt. fredwreck also produced some of that album. mad respect 2 JOE QUIXX. a huge influence on me & the bay, whether folks know it or not---i say that because he was spinnin regularly on kmel, NOT just 4 tha Wake Up Show... thank u to Joe 4 tha promos u hooked up at Cue's. i used to record his mixes on kmel b4 i started dj'ing, n i'd trip out whenever i'd see him at tha beat lounge aka many styles aka deco, cuz he lived next door...
thats funny how i read this today. i was lookin for my elevation 12" the other day, talkin to justin about b.u.m.s. ....man last i heard about them was that they were getting some recording done--still in the bay-- and a friend, les, was puttin down some beats for them. i need to holla at him and see whatever happened with that. that was about 2 years ago......
anyone know the sample used in the intro of "suck my dick"?
I'm from Philly but visited San Diego in 95'. Heard of the B.U.M.S on The Street Fighter soundtrack and was impressed and bought the cd (again) a few months ago. Good music back them even w/ the east/west b.s they wasn't even thinkin bout that , they were just in to makin good music. Peace.
Thanks 2 all for the great comments!
