Rest in Peace DJ AM (March 30, 1973 – August 28, 2009

I haven't really had the chance to say anything about DJ AM's passing, partly because I didn't really know what to say. I am close to people who were very close to him, so in a way I let them speak for me. I can't really say anything that they haven't already said, but even though I never met him, he has had a huge effect on my DJ life.

I cannot say that DJ AM was an influence of mine, or that I always checked him out when he came to my city. That is not how he left his impression to me. What DJ AM did is he told me that you CAN make a living being a DJ, and that DJ's CAN be considered a Hollywood star, and be in the tabloids, and be gossip, and be in People Magazine, and rub elbows with mega-stars. His rise to stardom was something like I've never seen...and I cannot imagine what it is like to play in 4+ cities in a week, or DJ in a sold out arena, or to have owners and promoters bidding over you. Without ever meeting me, or telling me, DJ AM showed me that there is a way. No one can say what that way is, but it is possible. AM reached heights that were insurmountable.

One of the best RIP tributes I've read!
