Marvin Gaye - Trouble Man (1972)

My friends make fun of me because I say EVERYthing is my favorite, so I guess you know where Im going with this one. This album is truly special to me because it was one that really opened me up to the versatility of Marvin. It was albums like this that really put him in his own category.
This was an album I haven't heard for at least a couple years, and I saw my boy Lalo listenin to this album via aim. He sent it to me, and I've been bumpin it pretty much all week. Listening to this album will definitely put you on another level. It's the perfect blend of Soul, Blues, and Funk, the vocals (of course, it's Marvin) are so smooth, and the instrumentation is ridiculous. Every time you hear this album, you'll notice or hear something different, and it paints a vivid picture of the Black experience in 1972. This album will make you blow out that afro! Anyway...if you only know Marvin for "Let's Get it On" and "Sexual Healing", listen to this one and you'll understand why Marvin Gaye is one of the greatest musicians of all time!

Someone posted some great photos of the actual LP, which has a flap that folded down to expose the full picture of Marvin crossing his legs. (I have the LP, so I don't feel TOO bad about taking the pictures! : ) but thanks to whoever took the time to take them). I believe they repressed the vinyl without the fold-down flap, and of course the CD didn't have it, so THAT'S the consolation for all my crate diggers out there!

I also must meantion that this is a soundtrack to a movie. I've never seen it, so I can't really comment on it, but even without seeing the movie, I can say that this is one of the best movie soundtracks I've ever heard.

Please download this and you'll know exactly what Im talkin about.
